A Church in Brooklyn Rooted in Prayer, Worship, and Service
Brooklyn Church of God (Holiness) has worshiped at 2315 Tilden Avenue since 1986. The congregation started with a handful of people praying together in a living room. Forty years later, it meets in a sanctuary renovated three times and built to hold up to 150 people.
Our mission guides everything we do: "Guided by the Holy Spirit, we seek to live holy lives, uplift our community through faithful prayer and enriching worship, serve others with compassionate hearts, and lead people to discipleship with Jesus Christ."
Whether you are looking for a church home or simply want to visit on a Sunday, you are welcome here.
Worship With Us Each Week
Sunday begins early. Our first service, held in English, runs from 8:15 to 9:30 AM, followed by Sunday School at 9:30 AM and a second worship service at 11:00 AM. Gatherings continue through the week:
Tuesday Fasting Service at 9:30 AM
Wednesday Prayer Meeting at 7:30 PM
Friday Bible Study at 7:30 PM
Can't make it in person? Sermons, worship services, and live broadcasts are posted on our YouTube channel, BCOGH Ministries. Full details on each gathering, plus the church calendar for 2026 to 2027, are on our weekly worship services page.
From the Mountains of Haiti to Tilden Avenue
Rev. Enock Lors spent more than twenty years preaching the gospel in the mountains of Haiti before he moved to Brooklyn in 1970. In 1985, Pastor Surbrook, who had known and worked with him in Haiti, encouraged him to open a ministry here.
He began with his wife Andreline, their children, and a few friends. Their first act of ministry was visiting a sick man who was paralyzed. The first worship service took place in a living room, and a house church grew from it. As more people came, the fellowship rented a modest meeting space and kept praying for a permanent home.
That prayer was answered on September 6, 1986. With help from the Church of God (Holiness) Home Mission Foundation Department, the congregation purchased its own building for $98,000. When the key was handed over, the charge that came with it was simple: "Here is the key, preach to the people."
The building was an empty room when it was bought, with no chairs and space for 60 to 75 people. Renovations in 2003, 2012, and 2026 transformed it. Today it has a dining room, a Sunday school classroom in the basement, and a baptism pool. The church celebrated its fortieth anniversary on September 6, 2026, under Senior Pastor Rev. Jean-Pierre Lors, the founder's son, who served beside his father for many years before taking up the pulpit.

Ministries for Every Member
A congregation is more than its Sunday service. Men gather in the Gedeon Men's Group for brotherhood, prayer, and Christian service. Women meet in the Deborah Women's Ministry. Young people have a youth group of their own, and the Children's Ministry teaches the youngest members the Word of God.
Others serve behind the scenes. Pianist Creunis Lors leads the music ministry, ushers welcome visitors at the door, and the media team supports audio, visual, and digital communications. Read about each group on our church ministries page.
Serving Our Neighbors
Faith here is meant to be lived out on the street, not only inside the building. Every Saturday from March through November, the church serves a free breakfast from 8:30 to 9:30 AM, open to the community. Members also take part in street evangelism, house-to-house visitation and prayer, and one-on-one Bible study two days each week. See how these efforts reach the neighborhood on our community outreach page.
The church's concern reaches past Brooklyn as well. Through the Haiti Project Helping Hand, the congregation supports children in Haiti with educational assistance, prayer, and compassionate service. The annual collection takes place during the third week of September.

Supporting the Work of the Church
The 2026 sanctuary renovation was carried by the members themselves. Committees took on delegated responsibilities, members returned fundraising envelopes and made pledges, and the congregation held a forty-day revival and a fortieth-anniversary banquet. Learn how you can take part in current efforts on our fundraising and giving page.
What We Believe
The church's teaching is set out in its Doctrine and Statement of Faith. Rev. Jean-Pierre Lors also wrote the 33 Applications of Jesus' Teaching, a creed drawn from Matthew 21:13. Each of its thirty-three lines returns to one conviction: this is a house of prayer, love, grace, and worship.
