Church Ministries in Brooklyn at Brooklyn Church of God (Holiness)

Eleven ministries keep Brooklyn Church of God (Holiness) running, and every one of them has a special place in the church family. Some lead worship from the front of the sanctuary on Tilden Avenue. Others work out of sight, keeping the building in order and the finances accounted for. All of them answer the same call: everyone is welcome to work for the Lord.

Members serve alongside Senior Pastor Rev. Jean-Pierre Lors and a dedicated team to continue the work his father, founder Rev. Enock Lors, began in 1985.

Leading Worship

Worship Leaders

Worship Leaders

The Worship Leaders guide the congregation in prayer, praise, and worship during services. Their work shapes the atmosphere of every Sunday and midweek gathering listed on our weekly worship services schedule.

Music

Music Ministry

Pianist Creunis Lors leads the Music Ministry, serving the congregation through music. The piano has a long history in this church: in its early years, the founder's son Moses served as pianist.

Preacher

Weekly Service Preachers

A group of preachers serves during weekly services, bringing the Word to the congregation throughout the week.

Fellowship Groups

Street Evangelism sends members out into the neighborhood to share the message of Jesus Christ with people who may never walk into a church. The congregation describes itself as a church of discipleship that works to win souls for Christ, and this ministry is where that work meets the sidewalk.

Men

Gedeon Men's Group

The men of the church meet as the Gedeon Men's Group for brotherhood, prayer, and Christian service.

Female

Deborah Women's Ministry

The Deborah Women's Ministry unites women in faith, fellowship, and service. Sr. Marjorie Lors has worked in the women's ministry for many years and continues to serve there today. In 2016, the group took part in the Great Evangelical Crusade, and its historical photographs remain part of the church archive.

The Next Generation

Youth Ministry

Young people have a youth group of their own, with its own president.

Children's Ministry

The Children's Ministry nurtures the next generation in the Word of God, giving the youngest members of the church a foundation in Scripture.

Serving Behind the Scenes

Usher Ministry

Ushers welcome guests as they arrive and support the worship services.

Media Ministry

The Media Ministry supports the church's audio, visual, and digital communications. Sermons, worship services, and live broadcasts are shared on the BCOGH Ministries YouTube channel.

Maintenance Department

The Maintenance Department cares for the church building and the worship environment. With a sanctuary renovated in 2003, 2012, and 2026, that care protects years of investment by the congregation.

Finance Department

The Finance Department handles stewardship and financial administration for the church.

Serving Beyond the Ministries

Members also take part in the church's community outreach in Brooklyn, including street evangelism, house-to-house visitation and prayer, and the free Saturday breakfast offered March through November. To see how these groups fit into the wider life of the congregation, visit the Brooklyn Church of God (Holiness) home page.
