Weekly Worship Services in Brooklyn

Six gatherings across four days make up the weekly schedule at Brooklyn Church of God (Holiness). Sunday is the center of the week at 2315 Tilden Avenue, but the life of the congregation runs from Tuesday morning fasting to Friday night Bible study.

From the first gatherings in a living room in 1985, the character of this church was set: worship rooted in prayer and ministry centered on people. That remains true in every service on the schedule below.

Sunday Schedule

Sunday holds three gatherings, one after another through the morning.

Sun

First Service in English, 8:15 to 9:30 AM

The morning opens with an English-language worship service. It ends at 9:30 AM, right as Sunday School begins.

Book

Sunday School, 9:30 AM

Sunday School meets at 9:30 AM. When the founder first turned the empty building into a place of worship, one of his additions was a Sunday school classroom in the basement.

Song

Second Worship Service, 11:00 AM

The second service begins at 11:00 AM. Worship leaders guide the congregation in prayer, praise, and worship, and pianist Creunis Lors serves the congregation through music. After three renovations, the church can hold up to 150 people.

Gatherings During the Week

Midweek services give members a reason to come back before the next Sunday.

Fasting

Tuesday Fasting Service, 9:30 AM

On Tuesday mornings at 9:30 AM, the church holds a fasting service. Fasting and prayer go together in this congregation, which counts among its earliest traits a commitment to prayer passed down from its founder.

Prayer Meeting

Wednesday Prayer Meeting, 7:30 PM

The Wednesday evening prayer meeting starts at 7:30 PM. It continues a practice the church has kept since its founding: a congregation that prays together, week after week.

Bible

Friday Bible Study, 7:30 PM

Friday evenings at 7:30 PM are set aside for Bible study. For anyone who wants a more personal setting, the church also offers one-on-one Bible study two days each week as part of its community outreach and discipleship work.

The church teaches holiness as a way of life. The church history points to Hebrews 12:14: "Strive for peace with everyone and for holiness, without which no one will see the Lord." The full Doctrine and Statement of Faith is available, along with the 33 Applications of Jesus' Teaching written by Senior Pastor Rev. Jean-Pierre Lors from Matthew 21:13.

Families with children will find a place here too. The Children's Ministry nurtures the youngest members in the Word of God, and the Youth Ministry gives young people a group of their own. Read about every group on the church ministries page.
